With a pool in the backyard and the ocean in the front, you’ll face the tough choice of where to relax during your stay. The villa opens to two covered seating areas facing the water, one of which has a barbecue, plus a sunny area with chaise lounges and a broad green lawn. A covered al-fresco dining area links the front terrace to the back deck, where you’ll find a hammock, another row of chaise lounges, a heated pool and a hot tub. Keep up with your routine in the home’s fitness room, stay in touch with friends via Wi-Fi and spend evenings relaxing in the home theater.

Neutral tones and plenty of glass make the scenery the star at Modern Wailea Estate. Glossy tile or wood floors and cream-colored walls form the backdrop for natural-fiber rugs, wicker chairs and casual linen sectionals, creating a comfortable atmosphere from which to enjoy the ocean views. The indoor dining area seats ten with ease in slipcovered armchairs, and there’s a breakfast bar along one side of the fully equipped galley kitchen.

Each of the five bedrooms at Modern Wailea Estate has an en-suite bathroom and air conditioning. The master suite has a king bed, outdoor shower and ocean view, and a second bedroom has a partial ocean view and a king bed. There are two other bedrooms with king beds and one with two twin bunk beds, perfect for kids. A mixture of sleek-lined minimal furniture and natural textures like linen and wood gives the bedrooms a peaceful, organic feel.

Polo Beach and Po’olenalena Beach, a few minutes’ walk away, or White Rock Beach and Wailea Beach, a few minutes away by foot or car.
