The owner grew up in this house when it was still split into nine individual apartments. He converted the building into the incredible structure it is today, overseeing every construction project and renovation in the building.

The quaint, exposed brick exterior doesn’t let on to what actually awaits guests inside. Upon entering the house, you are met by 10-inch, dark-stained, vertical white oak planks that adjust to become 7-inch, horizontal planks, leading your eyes towards the magnificent, sleek island that characterizes the house’s main kitchen.

As you walk by the long kitchen, you enter one living area with double-height ceilings. Elements of steel, wood, brick and glass harmoniously lend their textures to the architectural framework of the space, illuminated by the floor-to-ceiling windows that open up to the 1,200 ft² Zen garden.

During the day, the house is flooded with natural light. When the sun sets, over 300 LED ceiling lights provide an airstrip-quality view inside the home. NoHo based interior designer, Clodagh, known for designing world-class spas and residences, designed the entire house. Accordingly, the house radiates with the perfect balance of serenity, luxury, and privacy.

In addition, the house has four kitchens (the main, an outdoor kitchen on the roof, a galley kitchen for catering or entertaining on the ground floor, and a kitchen in the garden). Clodagh also installed 11 skylights and a waterfall at the base of the stairs leading to the ground floor, completing the Zen-like ambiance.

Sousa House has been host to several dignitaries, as well as a Hollywood stars. It shines bright as one of the most extraordinary properties on today’s market in Manhattan because there isn’t anything else in Manhattan quite like it!
