Villa Medano, Medano Beach, Los Cabos, Mexico Vacation Rental
Inhabit a living art gallery at Villa Medano, with stunning natural and artist-created beauty enfolding you on all sides. The craggy peaks and famous arch of Land’s End, the most recognizable natural landmark in Los Cabos, rise from the blue-green sea just in front of you. Receding glass walls in the living area frame this remarkable view and keep it close. An outdoor entertaining area—with direct access to Medano Beach—entices with an infinity pool, a commercial gas grill, outdoor dining table and fire features like a fire bowl and gas lanterns.
Not one but two work-of-art entrances welcome you to Villa Medano. First, through an ornate wood door framed by two chandeliers and a fountain, find a courtyard with a circular seating area in front of a stone fireplace, accented by exquisitely curved Mexican pottery.
Then, when you enter the villa itself, your first vision is of a dramatic spiral staircase lit by hand-blown blue light fixtures, and at its base, an original portrait painting by David Villasenor. Also showcased here are sculptures by Ernesto Cruz, a world-class architect, sculptor, poet and artisan whose work is proudly displayed throughout Villa Medano, Even the sculptures’ display niches were hand-painted by a French artist to compliment the hand-blown fixtures that illuminate the stairs. Painstaking details like this signal that you are in a signature property.
Even better, this villa is located on exclusive Medano Beach—just a 5-minute walk from restaurants, nightlife, and the marina. Guests of Villa Medano also have access to the Hacienda Beach Club and its multiple pools, luxurious spa and fitness center and the Hacienda Cocina y Cantina, a restaurant consistently rated one of the best in Cabo.
Because we acquired this seaside villa pre-construction, was able to begin making our mark right away with our selection of high-end finishes, tiles, and many other authentic details. Meanwhile, our interior design team filled the space with designer furniture, antiques, original art, pottery and collectibles from Mexico and Spain. At , we recognize the importance of a well-choreographed interplay of light, so we chose hand-forged chandeliers to cast their warm glow throughout the space, along with outdoor fire features like a fire bowl and natural gas lanterns.
A showcase spiral staircase presents an art gallery of original paintings, sculpture, and impeccable lighting from hand-blown glass fixtures. Lovers of art and authenticity will feel never more at home than here at Villa Medano.
The Land’s End Suite: Photos fail to precisely capture the rich texture of the fabrics and impeccable color palette of this seaside bedroom suite. A hand-carved king-sized bed, outfitted in creams, golds, and blues, features four posts that spiral toward the top of this room’s vaulted ceilings. A truly special armoire holds a flat panel TV and doubles as a work of art, built and hand-painted in Brazil by Mark Milliron using reclaimed wood and iron hardware.
A private terrace with plush chairs features sea views and a vantage point for the villa’s pool area below. Just inside, an oversized chaise lounge faces this same view. The 5-piece en-suite bathroom has a view, too. Sink into the huge two-person tub and look out at the Sea of Cortez. This room provides a pullout twin sleeper in the hallway area between the bedroom and bathroom, as well—great for kids who wish to be close to their parents.
The Bluefin Suite: This room’s delicate design balance features an iron king-sized bed with gauzy bed hangings adorned with shells, and stone floors softened by a rug designed by Carol Bolton. Adding to the Renaissance ambiance is a small Juliet balcony overlooking the inner courtyard. Also find an armoire that hides a television and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower.
The Villa Medano Suite: The two twin-sized beds in this room can also be combined to create one king-sized bed. An artist’s brushstroke reaches this bedroom as well, with an evocative, original Mexican oil painting of charros (cowboys) performing a cattle round-up, a handmade Mexican rug, and a subtly-scaled armoire that hides a TV. This room looks down on the resort and lush landscape, and also boasts an en-suite bath with walk-in shower.
The Our Lady Suite: On the villa’s main level, find this true artisan bedroom suite, infused with a vibrant color palate that takes inspiration from a Guadalajaran “Lady of Guadalupe” oil painting. Our talented interior design team contrasted this room’s sacred art with bold details like a hand-embossed leather headboard with nail-head trim and an authentic Agave tequila barrel chair, also upholstered in leather.
Back on the sacred side, a cloud-like king-sized bed boasts rich fabrics and down/feather pillows, and underneath the bed, a hand-woven rug was lovingly hand-carded and hand-dyed in Mexico. Other furnishings include a Mexican armoire, which houses the TV, and a carved wooden night table from Cabo San Lucas. An attached bath includes a walk-in shower.
Fully Equipped Chef Style Kitchen: This commercial kitchen maintains the pairing of contemporary luxury and Mexican tradition found throughout the villa. Professional-grade appliances and almost endless counter top space—including an oversized island bar with bar stool seating—are accented by handmade dishware from mainland Mexico and hand-blown glass light pendants the color of the sea.
Dining Room: At Villa Medano, we present one of the most authentic and enchanting dining experiences at any property in our portfolio. A Spanish Colonial dining table provides an exquisite dining space for eight to ten people. A custom-made iron light fixture from Guadalajara casts its glow upon the artisan dishware, handcrafted and painted especially for Villa Medano. Similarly, the glassware in this house was hand-selected as it emerged from the furnaces after being treated by individual craftsmen. The skill of these craftsmen, whose time-tested methods are a true art form, is showcased in the unique and individual beauty of each hand-blown piece.
Adding to the warm, artisan experience is a large-scale oil painting of a festive Mexican market scene, purchased from a gallery in Tlaquepaque, a quaint and charming antique center which attracts artists, artisans and art collectors from Mexico and around the world.
Great Room: Made for entertaining, the spacious great room opens to the outdoor area with a receding, floor-to-ceiling wall of glass and features two conversational seating areas. The first is made up of two deluxe sofas facing an arresting piece of Italian cabinetry, which houses a 55-inch TV. Also on each side of the TV cabinet are two sculptural signature heart pieces by Ernesto Cruz. A cocktail table in this area was hand-carved from Cypress wood by artisans in Guadalajara. The second seating area, with its leather and fabric chairs, is anchored by a fireplace—perfect for a rare cool evening in Los Cabos. A true show-stopper hangs just above this fireplace: a large-scale, hand-carved, vintage sculpture of the Archangel Michael, complete with sword and scale of justice, uncovered in Tlaquepaque.
Courtyard: Here, a transition space becomes a warm and comfortable area that guests gravitate toward, thanks to its stone fireplace, large pots from Mexico, Spanish tile floor, plush circular seating area, and the soothing sounds of the fountain in the entry foyer. This area is accessed through a receding wall of windows in the kitchen and dining area.
Outdoor Terrace: Access Medano Beach directly from the terrace, which also offers unbound views of the white sand beach, the Sea of Cortez and Land’s End. Enjoy the views—and the company—from multiple sitting areas decorated in palate of crisp white and saturated aqua. Oversized chaise lounges accommodate two people. Submerge into the hot spa with waterfall feature—a must-try in the evening, when the space is lit by gas lanterns and fire features. In the daytime, take a dip in the infinity pool or watch the beach’s activity, including sunbathers reclining on the white sand beach under the palms and sail boats and other sea vessels passing through.
