Italian luxury villa - Built in the 17th century as a convent, Villa Freddana stands in the hills near Lucca with stunning views over the La Freddana valley below. It is very well situated for easy access to Lucca, Florence, Pisa, the Versilia coast and the acclaimed Cinque Terre.

The building, set over three floors, has been sympathetically restored with great care and attention to detail so as to retain the historic feel of this special house. The bedrooms are all equally proportioned and nicely decorated, making this a superb villa for larger groups. Most bedrooms offer stunning views. It has been decorated in traditional Tuscan style, with warm colours and antique wooden furniture. Polished wooden and terracotta floors flow throughout the property. The large living room and kitchen have ample space, and there are superb views from the living room bay windows.

Villa Freddana is conveniently situated - you can reach Tuscany's most famous destinations within an hour or so. The walled town of Lucca is almost on your doorstep and will enchant you with its beauty and charm. Take a stroll along its ancient streets to discover its rich Roman heritage and remarkable medieval churches, full of precious art masterpieces, or browse the stalls on the weekly market to find good quality leather goods at affordable prices. Come the time for a break or a meal, in the famous elliptical Piazza del Mercato you will find an array of open air cafes and restaurants to choose from. If you hire a bike you will be able to appreciate Lucca from a different perspective. Cycle lanes have been created on top of the ramparts alongside lawned areas and pedestrian pathways, from which splendid, 360-degree views can be enjoyed on either side of the walls. Further afield you have Florence but also Pistoia, Pisa and the beautiful Versilia coast with its long sandy beaches. As you cross the regional border between Tuscany and Liguria, you will come across the spectacular five hilltop fishing villages of the Cinque Terre: a World Heritage Site not to be missed!
