Popular with Italians in the summer, this part of Campania feels very relaxed and undemanding, but if you do want to get to know the area there is plenty here for all. Vibonati is on the edge of the Cilento National Park & Val di Diano (a UNESCO world heritage site) where hiking, canoeing and riding are all on offer. You can explore inland villages such as Teggiano, but don't miss the waterfalls at Casaletto Spartano, the Ancient Greek site of Velia (close to Ascea), the Certosa di Padula monastery or the spectacular caves at Pertosa. There are boat trips along the coast to see the sea caves (grotte), some of which easily stand comparison to their more famous counterpart at Capri. Fishing and night fishing trips are available too. And the Cilento coast is known for its long sandy beaches, many of which have Blue Flags. A holiday at La Livunati will certainly be one to remember for all the very best reasons.
