The tall, 12th-century-old village church spire, vestige of a bygone era, is also visible from the chateau. The pool is set almost 200m away from the property, thus allowing the preservation of peace and tranquillity in the house.

Wake up to the magical atmosphere of La Sancerroise and, as you plan your day ahead, sample a typical French breakfast in the boulangeries in nearby Blet or Les Bourdelins, within just a few minutes' drive. The Loire valley is famous all over the world for its stunning chateaux surrounded by immaculate gardens and its extensive vineyards. Discover the secret Gardens of Berry, venturing along the mapped trails of the region or visit the superb Chateaux de Meillant, de Culan or de Menetou, perhaps less famous than Valencay, yet full of charm and incredible beauty. Wine tasting is a must whilst in the Loire Valley, with Sancerre being the preferred variety served at this chateau. Less than 30 minutes away is Bourges, whose majestic cathedral in the old town and daily market are well worth visiting.

The discreet caretaker lives in a farmhouse within the estate and is on-hand to help if needed.
