Villa Serena, Terres Basses, St. Maarten

Inspired by the Moors, this elegant beachfront villa is truly exceptional. It is located in a gated community with only thirteen other homes. The spacious interior provides approximately 7,500 square feet of roofed living space. Its vaulted ceilings blend with the terrace, which is surrounded by white columns and archways. Slightly elevated, Serena commands a beautiful view of Baie Rouge Beach and the island of Anguilla. The villa features a media room area with a huge flat screen TV and a reading area along with comfortable couches. A large gazebo overlooking the ocean has just been added and the indoor dining opens now to a terrace.

Four of the bedrooms have king-sized beds and private bathrooms. Two bedrooms have twin beds and private bathrooms. The Master Bedroom, which is part of a suite, features a king-sized bed, large dressing area and small refrigerator. All bedrooms have walk-in closets, air conditioning, ceiling fans and French Doors.

Villa Serena is located 10 minutes from Marigot, 5 minutes to the nearest grocery store, and footsteps to the beach.

ABOUT ST. MARTIN/ST. MAARTEN:

St. Martin (the French side) is known for its beautiful beaches, clothing stores, shopping, and rich French and Caribbean cuisine.  The official language is French, but English is commonly spoken.  The Dutch side (St. Maarten) is known for its festive nightlife, casinos, and jewelry stores.  The official language is Dutch and English.  This all adds up to a tale of two nations that offer the best of both worlds ... activity and leisure.

Terres Basses (French for Lowlands) is located at the westernmost end of the island beyond the Simpson Bay Lagoon. It is home to some of the most exclusive villas on the island and features two of St. Martin's prettiest beaches at Plum Bay, Baie Rouge, and Long Bay.

The capital city of Marigot is perhaps the most French in spirit of all the cities in the Caribbean. Colonial houses stand beside smart cafes and bistros, pastry shops and luxury boutiques, and in many ways it looks just like any of the French market towns you might expect to find on the Continent. Visitors can enjoy a newly built shopping center at the foot of Fort St. Louis, with luxurious boutiques. At the southern end of town down by the harbor is the Marina Port la Royale, elegant stores with the latest in European designer fashions and fine jewelry, all free of tax. The official currency on the French side is the euro.  However, every store on the island also accepts the United States dollar. The entire city is only four streets wide, so it is very easy to get around.

St. Maarten’s (the Dutch side) Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) is served by Air Caraibes, Air St. Maarten, American Airlines, Air Transat, BWIA, Continental, Corsair, Delta, Dutch Caribbean, Jet Blue, KLM, Liat, United Airline, and US Airway.  There is also a small airport on the French side (St. Martin) of the island at Grand Case, Lâ Esperance Airport, for small jet and propeller planes serving neighboring Caribbean islands.
